The deal
By accessing or using Maelo (maelo.app), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
These Terms form a legal agreement between you and Maelo Design ("Maelo", "we", "us"), a trading name based in the Netherlands. They govern your use of the Maelo tech pack generator, pattern grading tool, and all related features.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice before material changes take effect. Your continued use of Maelo after that date constitutes acceptance.
Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. Use a strong, unique password.
You must provide accurate information when you register. Do not impersonate any person or use a name or email you are not authorised to use.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are using Maelo on behalf of a company or organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, are used for fraudulent activity, or are inactive for more than 24 months.
What you pay
Free tier — your first tech pack PDF export is free, no credit card required. This is a lifetime allowance per account, not per project.
Pay-as-you-go — individual tech pack exports are priced at €19 per pack. Pattern grading sheet exports are priced separately. Prices are shown at checkout. No subscription required.
Studio plan — €99 per month (or an annual equivalent, shown at checkout). The Studio plan includes unlimited PDF exports, unlimited saved projects, all garment blocks, and priority support.
All prices are shown exclusive of VAT. VAT will be added at checkout at the rate applicable to your jurisdiction.
Payments are processed by Stripe. By making a purchase you agree to Stripe’s terms of service. We do not store your payment card details.
Refund policy: because each export is a digital download delivered immediately, exports are non-refundable once delivered. Unused monthly Studio plan days are non-refundable on cancellation. Contact us if you believe a charge was made in error.
Your content
You own everything you create with Maelo. Your tech packs, patterns, measurements, colorways, brand assets and any other content you input or generate remain your intellectual property.
By saving content to Maelo, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, process and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not use your designs to train AI models or share them with third parties.
You are responsible for ensuring that any content you upload (logos, images, reference photos) does not infringe third-party intellectual property rights.
We do not claim ownership of your garment designs, measurement data or any creative work product generated through Maelo.
Our content
Maelo owns the garment blocks, parametric geometry engines, grading algorithms, PDF templates, UI components, and the codebase underlying the service.
You may not copy, reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of any part of Maelo. You may not scrape the service to build a competing product.
The Maelo name, logo and brand marks are our trademarks. Do not use them without written permission.
Feedback you give us about Maelo (bug reports, feature suggestions, usability comments) may be used by us freely without compensation or attribution to you.
Acceptable use
You may use Maelo for lawful purposes only. You may not use the service to create tech packs or patterns intended to produce counterfeit branded goods.
You may not attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users’ accounts or data, or to our infrastructure.
You may not use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or systematically download content from Maelo without our prior written consent.
You may not use Maelo in any way that is defamatory, harassing, or that violates applicable law.
We reserve the right to suspend access immediately if we detect a violation of these rules, and to report illegal activity to the relevant authorities.
Uptime and support
We target 99.9% uptime for the Maelo service, measured monthly. Scheduled maintenance windows are announced at least 24 hours in advance via the status page.
Support is provided by email. Free tier users can expect a response within 5 business days. Studio plan users receive priority support with a 1 business day response target.
We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from security vulnerabilities. We will make reasonable efforts to fix reported issues promptly.
Cancellation
You can cancel your account at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period for Studio plan subscribers.
After cancellation, your account and all associated project data enter a 90-day cold storage period. During this period your data is not accessible but is retained in case you change your mind.
After 90 days, your account and all project data are permanently deleted. This action is irreversible.
If you want a copy of your data before deleting your account, contact support at info@maelodesign.com and we will provide an export within 30 days.
Liability
Maelo is provided "as is" and "as available". We make no warranties, express or implied, about fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of pattern output, or suitability for production use.
You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of all measurements, grade rules, and specifications before sending a tech pack to a factory. Maelo is a tool, not a substitute for professional pattern-making expertise.
To the maximum extent permitted by Dutch law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to the amount you paid to Maelo in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits, production delays, or factory errors caused by reliance on Maelo output.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Maelo will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Rotterdam, Netherlands.
If you are a consumer in the EU, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence under applicable EU consumer protection law.
The European Commission provides an Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform for resolving disputes between consumers and online businesses: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Our contact email for ODR purposes is info@maelodesign.com.
Changes to these terms
We will notify you of material changes to these Terms by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect, and by posting a prominent notice on this page.
Your continued use of Maelo after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you should cancel your account before the effective date.
Minor clarifications (grammar, formatting, non-material rewording) may be made at any time without notice.
